What is Fish Reveal?

Fish Reveal is a mobile app designed for offshore fishermen, providing them with high-definition maps of the ocean floor. This allows fishermen to identify underwater structures and prime fishing spots with unparalleled clarity.

How do I use Fish Reveal?

Finding good spots to fish is one of the biggest challenges of new and veteran fishermen alike. Fishing is a multifaceted hobby/career with no one skill being enough to pull in big hauls every time.

Fish Reveal was designed to give fishermen a huge advantage in being able to find new fishing grounds. Historically, fishermen have had to purchase, beg a friend or pay for a charter to collect waypoints. With Fish Reveal you no longer need waypoints. You can see the ocean bottom, locate structure from your couch and see how to setup on these new spots while on the water. Find ledges, coral, hard bottom, wrecks, relief, rock piles and pot holes that hold fish and are not highly pressured. You could even be the first person to ever drop a line there!

Start by locating a few spots that look good for the species you are targeting. Drive to the location and use Fish Reveal to setup to make sure you are in the best spot.

Try us on the water and see how we save you time, money and frustration. Spend your valuable time on fish instead of searching for them. We offer a 7 day totally free trial. Our goal is to help new fishermen find where to fish and increase veteran fishermen’s yield by providing them new fishing grounds.

Why are the coordinates from Fish Reveal not working with my chartplotter?

Chartplotters use multiple coordinate systems and these systems are normally located in your chart settings. Fish Reveal uses the DDM (Degrees Decimal Minutes) format. To enter Fish Reveal waypoint coordinates into your chartplotter follow the below steps.

1. Google how to change your coordinate system for your particular chartplotter (this varies based on manufacture and model )

2. Change your system to DDM(Degrees Decimal Minutes). This change is not permanent and does not impact anything on the system other than the coordinate system you use and can easily be reverted.

3. Enter any of the waypoints from Fish Reveal you want to store.

4. Change your system back or leave it in DDM (this is personal preference and can be changed at any time).

Making change to you coordinate system is really just for display purposes. Changing the system back is as easy as going back into your settings. We plan to allow for multiple coordinate systems within the Fish Reveal App in the future.

Can I get Fish Reveal on my chartplotter?

There is currently no way to load Fish Reveal on your chartplotter as an overlay, however it could be possible to setup Fish Reveal to use your chartplotter as a monitor (depending on your manufacturer and model)

If you would like to use Fish Reveal with your chartplotter as a monitor you can follow the below steps to get things running.

This installation requires you to purchase some hardware and will vary based on your manufacture and model.

1. Find out if your unit supports video inputs. Best case is an HMDI input. Please be aware many units have an HDMI output, but no HDMI input. If you do not have an HDMI input don’t worry, many units have an RCA input even if they don’t have an HDMI input. You might require a special manufacturer cable to give you access to RCA video inputs. Simrad and older Garmins both allow RCA input via a special cable/connector. Please review your model to see if you require a special cable or connector.

2. Order the required parts. You will need at minimum 1 x Anycast Plus HDMI Wireless Display Receiver, 1 USB power port within 18” of the rear or your chartplotter. If you need more length you with also require a USB extension cord. If you have an HDMI input on your chartplotter the above hardware should be all you require, if so please proceed to step 3. If you do not have a HDMI input then you will also require an HMDI to RCA converter, a USB hub to supply power to the converter, manufacturer video cable or connector. Please review the bottom of this post for a list of possible hardware options. There are too many possible options to list setups for all of them. The process should be the same for all units with the exception of how you get video inputs for your chartplotter. We are happy to help in any way we can. You can email support@fishreveal.com if you have unit specific questions.

3. Connect the anycast to your HDMI input or RCA converter.

4. Plug in the USB power into the anycast and converter if required.

5. Configure Chartplotter to show video. This varies based on manufacturer and model, but should be in settings.

7. Connect your phone WiFi to the anycast WiFi

8. Mirror your phone to the anycast

9. Make sure your chartplotter screen is set to video.

All systems -> AnyCast M2 Plus WiFi HDMI connector around $20
All Systems-> USB power access (Check your chartplotter some already have this on the unit)$5-15
Any chartplotter without HDMI input, but with video inputs -> HDMI to RCA converter around $15
Garmin without HDMI input but with CBVS input (BNC Male to RCA Female Adapter or garmin part# 010-11376-00 with female to female RCA connector) around $30
Simrad without HDMI input but with video input (Simrad NSE Video/Communications Cable part# 000-0129-001) under $10

The above list is by no means exhaustive. You should check your model and manufacture before ordering hardware to make sure you have everything you need.
